GENERAL INFORMATION
TW mechanical variators are continuously variable friction gears used for smooth adjustment of the engine speed.
The principle of operation of the mechanical variator TW is analogous to the principle of operation of a typical planetary gear. The difference lies in the possibility of changing the radial position of the satellite dishes, which causes a variable speed of their rolling along the stationary crown track. The change in the speed of the discs' rolling away influences the change of the speed of their yoke connected to the output shaft.
During rolling, the conical discs rub between the discs of the central and crown tracks pressing against them. The speed control with the knob is only allowed when the engine is running. An attempt to change the position of the discs at a standstill causes their permanent deformation, and thus damage the entire variator.
The compact body of the mechanical variators - aluminum or cast iron - and the IEC standard motor connections allow for connection with all types of electric motors and gears.
Thanks to the combination of variators with appropriate reducers, we can obtain very wide ranges of rotational speed.
The great advantage of the variators is that, thanks to the multi-turn adjustment knob, the required output speed can be set very precisely. The speed control with the knob is only allowed when the engine is running.
The variators are available in seven sizes.
Power range from 0,12 to 7,5 kW.
IEC flanges available: 63B5, 71B5, 80B5, 90B5, 100 / 112B5 and 132B5.
