Description
Planetary gear serves to reduce the rotation speed from the feeding element to the collecting element.
By properly selecting the gear ratio, we can obtain the required rotational speed.
Planetary gears, or epicyclic gears, consist of several gears: internal, external and several planetary gears, depending on the parameters of a given gear.
We distinguish planetary gears:
- angular with an exit at right angles to the drive motor,
- straight in the output in the axis of the drive motor.
Thanks to their properties, planetary gears are widely used in many industries. From small modeling devices to heavy industrial machines.
ADVANTAGES
The main advantage of the planetary gear is the ability to carry much more power by the cooperation of more gears compared to other gears. With extremely compact design, the planetary gears can carry heavy loads (high torque). Such features enable the connection of engines with very high powers.
Another advantage is the even distribution of the load on each wheel. The use of external and internal wheels as well as at least two circulating wheels allows for dividing the moments on each of these wheels.
APPLICATION
Planetary gears are widely used in all branches of industry. They are most often used in applications with very high power engines: construction vehicles, turbines, special vehicles and machines for machining various types of materials. The enormous engine power and variable overload on the output shaft allow for long-lasting and failure-free operation of the transmission, even if these are rapidly increasing.
